The End of Summer and The New Black

I fell asleep at 7:30 and woke up to the sound of thunder and the realization that it was only 9:00 and I should be making the most of my night when I have tomorrow off. It’s raining now, which does cool the air but also keeps the hot humidity that’s been festering in this house at an all time high.

The end of summer is always a good thing. That said, please forgive me of my absence, as this summer’s been one of a little bit of adventure (which I never have) and some much-needed catch-up time with old friends and family. But I think most of all that is done now, because I’m back of my old ways of writing sexy summer erotica whilst listening to The Birthday Massacre.

I do have some news, however:

Some of you might remember a story called “Blue Hawaii” which appeared in Solarcide’s Nova Parade anthology. I’m thrilled to announce that “Blue Hawaii” has been selected by Richard Thomas (now editor-in-chief of Dark House Press) to appear in The New Black, an anthology of the best neo-noir fiction. The New Black will be released in early 2014 and will also feature works by authors I admire such as Linsday Hunter (Daddy’s), Craig Clevenger (The Contortionists Handbook), and Stephen Graham Jones (The Last Final Girl).

The cover of the anthology was recently revealed, and I seriously cannot get enough of it. I’m still a small guppy in big seas, but seeing this anthology evolve with myself being a part of it is honestly unreal. You can view the full contents list of The New Black on the Dark House Press Facebook page.
